Grand Historic Venue

History

The first official institution of Freemasonry occured on 24 June 1717, when the first Grand Lodge was founded in England. Since then, the Masons have become one of the worlds largest fraternal organizations with members including many influential leaders from the last three centuries. In 1869, The Grand Lodge of Baltimore (now the Grand Historic Venue) was dedicated as the home of the Baltimore Freemasons and would retain that title for nearly 130 years. Limitations of the Lodge led the fraternity to move to a larger building in Baltimore's suburbs in 1996, leaving the beautiful building vacant until 1998 when it was acquired by Tremont Suite Hotels. Tremont brought together a team of resoration specialists to renew the worn interior and return the Grand Lodge to its original elegant state.

Today

Today the Grand Historic Venue is owned by Embassy Suites and serves as a popular setting for meetings, weddings, and other special events. The 9th International Conference on Two-Phase Systems for Ground and Space Applications will be held in several of the most lavishly decorated rooms, providing an exceptional ambiance for a world-class meeting.
