Travel to Baltimore

Due to its proximity to the U.S. capitol of Washington D.C., Baltimore offers many options for travel to the conference venue. The D.C. metro area can easily be reached by air or car with straightforward commutes into downtown Baltimore, MD.

By Air:

Baltimore and Washington are served by three main airports operating with daily flights to nearly any destination worldwide.

Note: In addition to transportation information listed below, car rental is available at all three airports.

Baltimore Washington International (BWI)

BWI is the closest and most convenient destination airport for the trip to Baltimore. As a Southwest/Airtran hub, connections can be made to nearly anywhere in the United States. Currently, non-stop international flights are limited to London (1 per day), Toronto (4 per day), and the Carribean (several flights per day). However, frequent flights are available to other popular international hubs such as Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit, and New York City.

Once at BWI, the trip to downtown Baltimore can be made by several means. The Light Rail service provides a direct connection between the aiport terminals and stops near the conference venue for a cost of only $1.60 each way. At BWI the station is next to Concourse E and, once in downtown Baltimore, the closest stop to the conference hotel and venue is Lexington Market (roughly 3 blocks away). A map and schedule with the pertinent information highlighted can be found by following the link:

For groups of up to 10 people, the BWI SuperShuttle will transport riders from the airport directly to the hotel for about $80. Be sure to specify the "Executive Non-Stop Van Service" when booking to ensure that the van will not be shared and make any extra stops. Shuttles can be reserved ahead of time at the site:

Dulles International Airport (IAD)

Washington Dulles International airport is the largest international airport in the area, providing non-stop travel to/from many overseas locations. Downtown Baltimore is not easily reached from IAD except by taxi at a high cost (~$100).

Information about travel and transportation at Dulles International Airport can be found at their website: http://www.metwashairports.com/dulles/dulles.htm.

Reagan National Airport (DCA)

Reagan National acts as the national airport for Washington D.C. as it is located only a mile soutwest of the city. DCA offers many domestic flights, with frequent trips to international hubs like Chicago, New York City, Los Angeles, and Detroit.

Similar to Dulles International, taxi fare to Baltimore is very expensive (~$100), but other options are available. Washington D.C. posesses a very nice METRO system which allows transport from the Reagan National terminal to Washington's Union Station (cost $2.70 one-way). From Union Station, the Camden Line of the MARC train service can be taken to Camden Station in downtown Baltimore, only blocks away from the conference venue (cost $7.00 one-way).
